WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Perform patient phlebotomy: inpatient ward rounds, outpatient, Emergency Department (ED), STAT, ASAP, and timed draws
• Process specimens and prepare send-out specimens
• Cross-train in specimen spin-down and send-out testing look-up procedures
• Positively identify patients and specimens prior to collection, testing, or aliquoting
• Independently test, evaluate, document, and report patient test results and Quality Control (QC)
• Identify, document, and resolve collection, processing, testing, or reporting issues
• Safeguard electronic and paper patient information in compliance with HIPAA and VA privacy standards
• Participate in monthly Laboratory Quality Improvement and Staff Meetings
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of recent phlebotomy experience required
Education — One of the following:
• Completion of a full-time (~1 year) medical/clinical laboratory assistant training program including chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology; OR
• Associate degree with second-year completion of an accredited laboratory assistant training program; OR

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Healthcare Engineer to support Facilities Management Services (FMS) at the El Paso VA Health Care System (EPVAHCS). This position is embedded full-time within the VA's Capital Improvement Team and serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical power systems — normal and Essential Electrical System (EES) — as well as electronic and low-voltage systems across a major VA healthcare construction program, including the Replacement Healthcare Center (HCC).
You will serve as the electrical SME on an integrated professional team, ensuring electrical and electronic systems are patient-safe, code-compliant, commission-ready, and operationally sustainable. This is a high-visibility federal contract role interfacing directly with VA project managers, commissioning agents, and the General Contractor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as SME for all normal and Essential Electrical System (EES) infrastructure including Type 1/Type 2 EES, life safety, critical, and equipment branches per NEC Article 517 and VA Electrical Design Manual (PG-18-10)Oversee EPSS (Emergency Power Supply System) commissioning: generators, ATS operation, UPS integration, load bank testing, and NFPA 110-aligned operations/testing planOversee fire alarm and signaling system acceptance, ITM, and commissioning per NFPA 72 (2025) including mass notification, audibility/intelligibility, and power survivabilityOversee Electronic/LV systems including access control, video surveillance, nurse call, public address, intercom, structured cabling — aligned with ANSI/TIA-1179-B and TIA-568.0-EOversee medium/low voltage distribution acceptance: switchgear, panelboards, transformers, arc-flash labeling, protective device coordination studiesImplement and document cybersecurity for facility-related control systems (BMS/DDC, FA networking, ESS) per UFC 4-010-06Verify lighting systems performance, emergency lighting compliance, and Joint Commission EC.02.05.07 documentation readinessOversee BMS/DDC commissioning: point-to-point verification, sequences, alarming, trend plans, BACnet/IP device lists, and change controlDevelop and maintain Emergency Power Systems Hazard Vulnerability AnalysisProduce EPSS operations/testing plan for monthly/annual testing aligned with NFPA 110 and Joint Commission survey readinessDevelop SOPs, conduct comprehensive O&M training for VA Facilities staff, and support project closeout documentationPerform project planning, design management, and construction administration for assigned projectsProduce monthly comprehensive reports covering assessments, activities, deficiencies, and corrective recommendationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
15–20 years of experience in hospital/healthcare electrical systems operations, maintenance, and repair in a patient care environment15–20 years of experience with healthcare electrical building codes (NEC, NFPA 72, NFPA 99, NFPA 110)At least 10 years of direct experience in a hospital patient care settingExtensive experience with normal, emergency, and UPS power systems in patient care environmentsMinimum 5 years in hospital/healthcare electronics and low-voltage systems design and/or constructionElectrical code certifications and/or credentials (PE, RCDD, or equivalent preferred)Strong working knowledge of: NEC Article 517, NFPA 72/99/110/101, VA PG-18-10 Electrical Design Manual, ASHRAE Guideline 0 and Standard 202PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

About This Opportunity
We are seeking qualified Sterile Processing Technicians to serve Veterans at the East Orange VA Medical Center on a full-time federal contract beginning August 1, 2026. This is a stable, long-term opportunity — base year plus up to 4 option years (potential 5-year engagement).
Available Shifts & Pay Rates
? Tour 1 (Day) 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Mon–Fri | $27.00–$28.00/hr
? Tour 2 (Evening) 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM Mon–Fri | $28.50–$29.50/hr
? Tour 3 (Night) 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM Mon–Fri | $29.50–$31.00/hr
Pay is based on certification level and years of experience. Evening and night shift differentials are included in the rates above.
What You'll Do
? Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize reusable medical equipment (RME)
? Operate sterilization equipment: Steam, Sterrad, VPRO, Medivator, Trophon, and Cidex OPA
? Perform biological and chemical testing, Bowie-Dick tests, and complete QA documentation
? Support surgical specialties including General, GYN, Ortho, ENT, Urology, Vascular, Dental, Robotics, and Podiatry
? Track instruments using the Censitrac instrument tracking system
? Follow manufacturer IFUs for flexible endoscopes and all RME
? Maintain infection control standards and OSHA safety protocols at all times
? Participate in quarterly quality improvement meetings and complete annual VA TMS training modules
Minimum Qualifications
Must meet ONE of the following:
? CRCST certification through HSPA (strongly preferred)
? Graduate of a recognized CRCST or SPT program with 2+ years of SPS experience
? VA Level 1 certification with 2+ years SPS experience (Level 1 must be completed within 90 days of start)
? 5+ years of verifiable hands-on SPS experience (non-certified pathway)
All candidates must also meet the following requirements:
? Ability to read, speak, understand, and write English fluently
? Valid driver's license (occasional travel to other VA sites may be required)
? Ability to pass a federal background investigation (NACI)
? Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
? Up-to-date immunization records: TB/IGRA test, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza, COVID-19
? Clear OIG LEIE exclusion screening
? Willingness to complete all required VA mandatory training modules annually
Technical Skills & Knowledge
? Full-cycle sterile processing: decontamination → inspection → assembly → sterilization → distribution
? In-depth knowledge of aseptic technique, microbiology principles, and HLD/sterilization chemistry
? Proficiency with autoclave operation including Bowie-Dick testing and biological indicator interpretation
? Experience identifying, assembling, and handling surgical instruments across multiple specialty sets
? Familiarity with infection control procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards
? Ability to operate instrument tracking software (Censitrac experience a plus)
? Physical stamina: extended standing, lifting, pushing carts; ability to work in hot, humid, loud environments in PPE
? Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle high-pressure, time-sensitive situations
Compensation & Benefits
? Tour 1 (Day): $27.00–$28.00/hr
? Tour 2 (Evening): $28.50–$29.50/hr — includes evening shift differential
