    Construction Inspector:

    Provides full-time support to the RE. The Construction Inspector performs Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring and inspecting construction work for compliance; monitoring the excavation; loading and off-haul of hazardous materials; verifying and/or conducting necessary testing for construction purposes; reviewing plans, specifications and shop drawings for compliance during construction, and during field services; reporting observed safety and environmental hazards, and/or field conditions that could alter original designs; reviewing project schedules, and implementing inspection plans; coordinating construction phases, leading and/or participating in field meetings; resolving problems, and responding to complaints; preparing project documentation including progress reports, daily project construction reports and records, and meeting minutes; analyzing and implementing approved change order requests; maintaining records; verifying field measurements; verifying and preparing quantity and progress estimates. The Construction Inspector performs all other related duties, as required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Four (4) years of verifiable full-time experience in construction inspection work ensuring that plans and specifications are complied with, and the workmanship and material used meet specificationsTwo (2) of the four (4) years’ experience required may be substituted for experience at the Superintendent/General Foreman level, supervising construction crews of more than six (6) staff Current OSHA 30-HR for Construction Certification

    Desirable Qualifications for Inspector position:

    Knowledge of:

    The principles, practices and methods of construction management and general construction inspection practices.Construction, maintenance and repair methods and procedures.Research techniques and reporting.Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects).Construction materials necessary to determine the quality and correct use in projects.Safe working habits and regulations in relation to different phases of construction and Excavation Code enforcement.Marine construction experience desirable (i.e., pile driving, float installation, and general over-water construction knowledge).

    Ability to:

    Working Hours/Conditions:

    Consultants must have ability to work a minimum of 8-hour work shifts, Monday – Friday and commit to a minimum 6-month term. This may be up to a 2-year assignment. Work may require early morning and/or late-night shifts, and weekends; some dirty and disagreeable work environment and physical effort, such as working in inclement weather conditions, walking on uneven surfaces, and standing for long periods of time.

    Position Overview


    We are seeking a motivated Geologist at entry-level to project geologist level to join our

    geotechnical engineering /geology team in downtown San Francisco. This position offers hands-on

    experience in construction observation, subsurface exploration, and laboratory testing in an urban

    environment. The role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals as well as

    experienced geologist looking to build a strong technical foundation in geotechnical and

    engineering geology practice.


    This position includes project management, proposal and report writing, fieldwork on active

    construction sites across the Bay Area, with responsibilities that directly support foundation

    construction, earthwork operations, and geotechnical investigations. Clients include San

    Francisco Public Utilities Commission, San Francisco Department of Public Works, US Army Corp

    of Engineers, San Francisco International Airport, Oakland International Airport, San Francisco

    Unified School District, Oakland Unified School District, and East Bay Municipal Utilities District.


    Primary Responsibilities (varies with experience)

    Field Responsibilities (approximately 30 to 70%):

    • Perform field sampling and logging during drilling operations, including:

    o Standard Penetration Tests (SPTs), Modified California (Mod Cal) sampling, Shelby

    tube sampling, and Bulk sampling for laboratory testing

    • Perform infiltration/percolation tests

    • Observe and document deep foundation installations, including:

    o Micropiles, Auger-cast piles, Push-in piles, etc.

    • Observe tieback installations and testing

    • Observe backfill placement and compaction operations

    • Prepare daily field reports, field boring logs, and field installation logs

    • Coordinate with drillers, contractors, and project engineers in the field

    • Reviewing construction documents such as plans and specifications


    Office Responsibilities (approximately 30% to 70%):

    • Support laboratory testing in the in-house geotechnical laboratory

    • Assist with permits, workplans, site-specific data review, proposals, and report preparation

    • Compile boring logs and field documentation

    • Support geotechnical analyses and project deliverables


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Sciences, or a related

    field / Graduate degree is a plus

    • Strong interest in engineering geology, geology, geotechnical and environmental site

    assessments and investigations, and construction observation

    • Willingness and ability to perform regular fieldwork in urban construction environments

    • Ability to work flexible hours as required by construction schedules

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

    • Detail oriented, resourceful, well organized, and self-motivated

    • Valid driver’s license


    Preferred Experience (Not Required)

    • Prior geotechnical field experience

    • Geologist-In-Training certification

    • Familiarity with Bay Area geology

    • Familiarity with drilling operations and soil sampling methods

    • Experience with construction observation or inspection

    • Basic laboratory testing experience

    The Resident Engineer provides full-time support to the Construction Manager in the administration of the contract. Supports the contract change process, including monitoring and tracking of field issues, changes, and disputes. Candidate will coordinate with various Project Managers, Project Engineers, and contractors to resolve constructability, funding, and administrative matters. Candidate must have experience in preparing and processing progress payments, change orders, Record of Negotiations, as-builts, and other construction documents.     Responsibilities:

    Assisting Senior Engineers with geotechnical calculations for liquefaction, slope stability, settlement, seismic analysis, and soil-structure interaction utilizing various software such as Slide, LPile, AllPile, CLIQ, DeepSoil, FLAC, etc.Assisting Senior Engineers with geotechnical study report, proposals, RFI and submittals. Reviewing construction documents such as plans and specifications.Participate in pile testing observation on job sites.Communicate with clients including project managers, government regulators, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

    3 - 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.Advanced understanding of soil mechanics, foundations, seismic designs, slope stability, and soil improvement.Minimum of BS degree; MS/PHD degree is a plus.Licensed CA Professional Engineer (PE); CA Geotechnical Engineer (GE) is a plus.Detail oriented, well organized, and self-motivated. Ability to work well with others.Problem solving skills.US Driver’s License.US Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the US.

    Typical tasks include performing geotechnical engineering calculations, fieldwork, preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals, and review and response to RFI and submittals. We seek flexible individuals who can comfortably perform a variety of tasks both in the field and in the office. The approximate office to field ratio is 95:05.
