The Senior Whey Technologist develops, promotes and maintains a manufacturing environment and a workforce capable of meeting manufacturing requirements for whey ingredients. We are looking for a Sr. Whey Technologist in Luxemburg, WI.
The Senior Whey Technologist is responsible for managing critical whey stream processes related to the production of consistent quality whey and high value ingredient products that deliver our customer's brand promise within our vision statement while optimizing yields and efficiencies. The Senior Whey Technologist develops, promotes and maintains a manufacturing environment and a workforce capable of meeting manufacturing requirements for whey ingredients. This position maintains the highest Agropur standards and consistently strives to produce quality whey ingredients for customers, always seeking to meet or exceed customer expectations and implement improvements for the future.
Accurately perform statistical analysis of laboratory and process data to identify trends, deficiencies and formulate predictions.
Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications.
Work with plant, corporate and client personnel to resolve issues or investigate improvement opportunities as needed.
Understand and compliance with all Quality Assurance policies; immediately reporting any potential food safety issues to management.
Proficiently measure microbial quality of dairy processes and resolve related issues.
Assist with plant designs, production line layouts and process equipment selections.
Manage recipes and make updates to maximize both yield and quality/performance of all products produced.
Fully support and effectively communicate changes in processes, recipe, operation, quality issues and concerns, as well as trials to Operations, Technical Services Group, R&D, Quality Assurance, etc.
Mentor and train operators and supervisors.
Drive initiatives to lead the production and quality teams to meet or exceed yields and quality goals of our customers.
Develop and maintain procedures for the production of whey ingredients, operation, and training of supervisors and employees in the whey plant.
Assist when required with plant audits (USDA, FDA, State, third party, etc.) and plant tours.
Work with the Quality Assurance department to make determinations on disposition of product based on product and customer specifications.
Lead and motivate people toward continuous improvement in the whey plant department.
Work with the sales department regarding product disposition as well as with the customers. Visit customers as required to support the customer's needs and wants for whey ingredients.
Support the whey department at all departmental levels to optimize quality, efficiency and food safety.
Focus on supporting all Agropur policies, rules, safety and GMP's.
Work in tandem with product development and ingredient sales on new product formulations as required to develop new sales.
Follow through with the Chemical Suppliers Service report by making the necessary changes to maintain the sanitation of equipment along with the plant personnel.
Analyze production data to ensure adherence to critical KPI's.
Help to initiate, support and manage all whey processing continuous improvement initiatives.
What you need to join our team:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field required.
Master's Degree preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in a dairy manufacturing environment required or food manufacturing.
Experience in mechanical and membrane separation and ion-exchange preferred.
Experience in scaling R&D or pilot work into real world commercial applications required.
