    Job Description

    This role offers a hands-on opportunity for an experienced waterproofer or general construction laborer who wants to grow into the glazing trade. You will support journeyman glaziers on commercial projects, assisting with the fabrication, installation, and glazing of storefront and curtain wall systems, as well as heavy glass partitions, mirrors, and perimeter caulking joints. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read a tape measure accurately, and a willingness to perform physically demanding tasks while learning a specialized trade.

    Responsibilities

    Assist journeyman glaziers with the fabrication, installation, and glazing of storefront and curtain wall systems.Support the layout and installation of heavy glass partitions on commercial projects.Assist with the layout and installation of mirrors in various commercial settings.Perform installation of perimeter caulking joints to ensure proper sealing and waterproofing.Use a tape measure accurately to take measurements and verify dimensions for installations.Perform general laborer tasks such as material handling, site preparation, and clean-up.Conduct basic mechanical installations of hardware and related components as directed.Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively to support glazing and waterproofing activities.Follow instructions from journeyman glaziers and site supervisors to complete assigned tasks.Work safely on commercial construction job sites, following all safety guidelines and procedures.Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn the glazing trade.

    Essential Skills

    1–2 years of general construction experience, preferably with sealing or caulking work.Experience working as a general laborer in a commercial construction environment.Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for layout and installation tasks.Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.Knowledge of basic caulking and waterproofing techniques.Mechanical aptitude to perform mechanical installation of hardware and related components.Familiarity with commercial job site environments and standard construction practices.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.Strong willingness to work hard, follow directions, and learn the glazing trade.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    Previous experience with water proofing, sealing, and caulking on construction projects.Experience assisting with installation of glass, mirrors, or similar building materials.Interest in developing a long-term career in the glazing and glass installation trade.Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.Openness to ongoing training and skill development in a specialized trade.

Each workstation includes an injection molding machine and a computer/microscope station positioned behind the operator to support inspection and documentation tasks. The role involves working with silicone rubber molding, injection molding machines, brake press machines, and other production equipment. Shifts are structured as 1st shift (5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.), with overtime that may include 8-hour Saturdays. The environment requires wearing full clean room attire, often described as an “astronaut suit,” and consistently following safety and contamination-control protocols while working closely with a team in a highly controlled, technology-driven production setting.
