    AECOM is seeking a highly talented Principal Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to join the East Region Dams Team. This position will support a variety Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region. The successful candidate will join the ENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firm and have access to exciting career advancement opportunities. This position will report to one of the AECOM offices in the East Region including but not limited to Atlanta Georgia; Buffalo New York; Charlotte North Carolina; Conshohocken Pennsylvania; Germantown Maryland; Franklin Tennessee; or Tampa Florida. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Project management of multidisciplinary teams and the engagement of AECOMs operations/finance teams including client management contract management planning and execution and financial management of dam engineering projects. Provide senior technical support for projects including seepage and slope stability analyses filter and drain design Potential Failure Mode Analyses (participate and/or facilitate) Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessments site inspection construction observation and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic structures. Prepare and perform quality reviews of other Engineers work on deliverables such design calculations engineering reports construction drawings and technical specifications. Perform engineering estimates for cost and project schedules. Responsible for quality control and serve as Lead Verifier following AECOM Quality Control policies and procedures. Mentoring and technical development of junior staff supporting them to achieve technical success. The candidate should have a high level of technical expertise and experience in supervising and training staff in geotechnical analyses. Perform as Capture Manager for new opportunities including business development pre-positioning and the preparation of proposals. Collaborate with technical leads in our Dam Engineering Practice with staff located throughout AECOM. Client facing role with ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of dam engineering projects and programs including business development for new and existing clients. Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed. Qualifications : Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with demonstrated coursework in Geotechnical Engineering 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Licensed as a Professional Engineer in at least one state with the ability to successfully apply for reciprocity in additional states. Relevant experience with dams projects including rehabilitation and/or new design and construction. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams. Experience in relevant geotechnical engineering software programs such as GeoStudio and gINT. Valid U.S. Drivers License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records review. Due to the nature of work U.S. Citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: 15 years of experience in Dams Engineering and/or Geotechnical Engineering. Masters degree in Civil Engineering. Project experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Approved Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Part 12 Independent Consultant. Ability to complete the Managing AECOM Projects training and receive the AECOM Project Manager certification. Additional Information : Relocation is not available for this position. Hands-on mechanical experience and interests preferred (examples include construction home repair and auto maintenance). Typical projects include operating and maintaining public water supply and residential groundwater treatment systems construction of support buildings/facilities groundwater and soil sampling and wastewater treatment support. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Performs routine fieldwork (such as environmental multi-media sampling operations maintenance and inspection of equipment) working under close supervision. Performs routine tasks in support of project staff. Various operations and maintenance activities associated with groundwater remediation systems involving extraction of impacted groundwater performing recovery system maintenance as needed collecting groundwater samples to monitor system performance and compilation of field data. Other activities may include setting up and operating equipment inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation. Position will require OSHA 40-hour hazardous site worker training. Qualifications : Minimum Requirements Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career serving as a client-facing project manager on regional and municipal water and wastewater treatment projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to immediately contribute to an established and successful water practice in the Western and Upstate New York area (Buffalo NY) working on a diverse range of technically challenging water resources projects. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Lead multi-discipline and complex water and wastewater design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases including alternative delivery projects. Manage a portfolio of clients with multiple projects to approved scope budget and schedule. Perform technical reviews and implement AECOM quality standards. Serve as a point of contact internally and externally for projects and clients in the Western and Upstate New York Area. Develop and mentor mid-level and junior staff for career development. Have decision-making authority and direct others in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such. Lead business development activities including pursuing new clients and projects and serving as leader of proposal efforts including technical and cost pricing. Actively participate in water and wastewater organizations through presentations at conferences and volunteering. This position requires travel within New York and nearby states. The selected candidate must be available to work in Buffalo NY on a scheduled basis. Qualifications : Minimum Requirements: BS/BA degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in water and/or wastewater treatment pumping and collection systems. Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 1 year. Valid U.S. Drivers License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review. Preferred Qualifications: 10 years of related experience in water/wastewater consulting and engineering management. Experience leading scope technical approach and pricing efforts for businessdevelopment activities. Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment pumping stations collection systems and client relations. Experience leading client and public presentations. Ability to work collaboratively and motivate staff and project team. Experience leading design build/alternate delivery projects.
