    We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing Assistant (DONA) to support the Director of Nursing in leading daily clinical operations and ensuring exceptional resident care. This leadership position combines hands-on resident care with staff supervision, scheduling, quality improvement, and operational support to maintain a safe, efficient, and resident-centered environment.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Nursing Assistant (DONA) is a key member of the nursing leadership team responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CNA and CMA departments. This role manages staffing and scheduling, provides leadership and mentorship to direct care staff, supports quality assurance initiatives, and assists the Director of Nursing with clinical and administrative responsibilities while maintaining high standards of resident care.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage daily staffing and scheduling for CNAs and CMAs to ensure adequate coverage and quality resident care.Coordinate shift coverage, fill staffing vacancies, and work with staffing agencies when necessary.Provide direct resident care and assistance with activities of daily living as needed.Recruit, orient, train, mentor, and coach CNAs and CMAs while promoting accountability and professional development.Monitor staff performance and communicate performance concerns to the Director of Nursing.Conduct clinical audits, monitor PointClickCare documentation, bathing records, resident weights, and other quality indicators, and assist with corrective action plans.Assist with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), PEAK, Champions of Change, and other performance improvement initiatives.Participate in daily clinical huddles, shift reports, leadership meetings, and the on-call rotation.Assist with data collection, medical records requests, resident appointments, transportation coordination, document management, and regulatory compliance.Order and maintain nursing supplies and equipment, including tracking rental equipment and reporting maintenance concerns.Promote Residents' Rights, emergency preparedness, infection prevention, and a culture of safety and excellence.Perform other duties as assigned in support of the nursing department.

    Qualifications

    Current Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification required.Current CNA certification preferred or required according to state regulations.Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing required.Prior supervisory, staffing, or scheduling experience strongly preferred.Experience using PointClickCare or another electronic health record system preferred.Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to effectively manage staff while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.
