Job Overview
The Field Services Technician is responsible for executing service calls, installations, and system replacements with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency. This role supports the successful completion of heating system installations, oil tank replacements, and general service work in the field.
Candidates must be able to perform physically and technically demanding work consistently throughout the day. A solid understanding of heating, cooling, and plumbing systems is required, along with the ability to diagnose common issues, troubleshoot effectively, and implement solutions as directed.
The Field Services Technician works closely with Lead Technicians and team members to complete jobs to company standards. This role requires strong communication, reliability, and attention to detail, as well as a commitment to delivering a professional, customer-focused experience on every job.
Responsibilities
Complete heating, cooling, and plumbing service calls and installationsReview daily schedule and confirm job assignments with team membersEnsure proper tools, materials, and resources are available for each jobCommunicate job timelines and service interruptions with customersOrder and coordinate materials when assigned; verify deliveries for accuracyMaintain clean, safe, and organized work areas; respect customer propertyReview job scope and identify any out-of-scope or non-functioning systemsPerform work according to job specifications and company standardsDiagnose and troubleshoot system issues in the fieldTake clear notes and photos for job documentationCommunicate job status, answer customer questions, and escalate issues as neededInspect and test systems prior to completion (including leak checks and operation)Support team members or lead smaller jobs when required
Requirements
Experience with heating, cooling, and/or plumbing systemsAbility to perform physically demanding work throughout the dayBasic diagnostic and troubleshooting skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to follow job specificationsGood communication and customer service skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamReliable, organized, and able to manage time effectivelyWillingness to learn and take direction from Lead Technicians or ManagersValid driver’s license
