    This position will be responsible for performing non-research molecular testing of samples for potentially containing biological threat agents. Ensures incoming operational, QA, and other sample types are processed while maintaining chain of custody. Prepares reports, answers questions, troubleshoots, and makes recommendations to the supervisor for inclusion in comprehensive reports. Maintains and operates equipment properly and in a safe manner, including performing routine calibrations and adjustments. Performs all procedures in accordance with proper handling and storage of various materials. Additionally, will be responsible for maintaining knowledge and skills related to position and program. Laboratory operations are 7 days a week. Team members take turns with weekends and holidays to ensure results are reported each day. In the event of a public health emergency, extended work hours and alternative shift work may be required to maintain temporary emergency 24/7 operations. Kindly be aware that a pre-employment drug screening is a requirement.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in microbiology, molecular biology, or related course work in biological sciences.

    REQUIRES at least one year of laboratory bench experience, utilizing PCR, aseptic techniques and experience with biological assays. Laboratory training that is assigned or accompanies an associated course is not considered applicable training

    A-TEK is seeking a highly technical Federal AI Solutions Engineer to design, build, and operationalize mission-focused, outcome-driven solutions across AWS and Azure. This role is responsible for building both the cloud platform foundation, and the mission applications that run on it, leveraging LLMs, agentic architectures, automation frameworks, and leading-edge technologies.

    In addition to engineering responsibilities, this role serves as a deep technical escalation point for A-TEK's front-line delivery teams, helping resolve complex issues they encounter with cloud services, AI pipelines, data integration, agent frameworks, and automation.

    This position sits at the center of A-TEK's DigitalShift capability and drives rapid prototyping that can be reused, scaled, and transitioned into government missions.

    This role is remote with occasional on-site presence at our federal client sites, therefore only Continental US applicants will be considered. The ability to obtain and retain a public trust clearance is required for this role.

    Key Responsibilities

    Mission-Focused Pilot Development

    Design, build, and deploy agentic AI pilots that demonstrate measurable mission impact using:Strands, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, or equivalent frameworksAWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and multi-LLM orchestrationDevelop end-to-end prototypes integrating:Cloud-native servicesFederal or enterprise data sourcesAPIs and microservicesEnterprise authentication & security controlsImplement prompting strategies, tool orchestration, reasoning loops, planning/execution agents, and autonomous workflows.

    Internal Platform Engineering

    Build, maintain the internal AWS, and Azure environments used for A-TEK's rapid pilot development:Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK/Bicep)Container services (ECS, EKS, AKS)Secure networking, identity, and data pipelinesDevelop reusable accelerators, starter kits, templates, and reference architectures.

    Technical Escalation & Delivery Support

    Serve as a hands-on SME supporting client-facing teams when they encounter complex technical blockers involving:Cloud migrationsAI/ML integrationGenAI agent behavior issuesVector databases & RAG pipelines.CI/CD & automation workflowsProvide architectural guidance and troubleshoot issues across the engineering lifecycle.

    Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

    Work closely with:Cloud, Cyber, Data Intelligence, and Agile Engineering Centers of ExcellenceProgram managers and solution architects.Delivery teams and capture/proposal teamsProduce internal documentation, patterns, and best practices to continuously expand A-TEK's technical knowledge base.

    Compliance & Governance

    Ensure all pilots and internal platforms adhere to:NIST AI RMF, FedRAMP, Zero Trust principles.Secure coding, privacy, ethical AI, and accessibility guidelinesImplement logging/monitoring for auditability and responsible AI operations.

    Qualifications:

    Required

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field3–5 years of hands-on software development experience (Python preferred; Node.js/Java acceptable)Experience building applications on AWS and/or Azure.Associate level or higher Solutions Architect certification in AWS or AzureStrong understanding of LLM APIs and ecosystems (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS) Bedrock, Azure OpenAIExperience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, FAISS)Ability to design and debug distributed cloud systems and AI-enabled applications.Strong communication skills: able to explain complex topics to A-TEK delivery teams, leadership, and partners.

    Preferred

    Experience developing agentic AI systems.Familiarity with Containers, Serverless, Event-Driven ArchitectureExperience working in or supporting secure federal environments.Exposure to MLOps, DevSecOps, or continuous ATO practicesPrior experience building reusable internal platforms or accelerators.

    Compensation

    Salary Range: $135,000 – $150,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
