    Position Summary: Will function as a key member of the accounting team.  Reporting to the Plant Controller, this position will focus on maximizing plant profitability while maintaining strong accounting controls.  The Staff Accountant will maintain the general ledger, review financial statements, research accounts, analyze financial records, prepare journal entries, develop spreadsheets and reports, perform monthly closing functions, and ensure the financial integrity of plant operations. This is a hands-on role requiring the successful candidate to work at both detailed task level and higher management support level.


    Responsibilities:

    Management Support:

    Provide financial information, analysis, and support to the location and corporate management team as required.Contributes to the development, review, and implementation of the operating budget and performance projections.Responds to information requests, researches and interprets data, and answers accounting and financial questions.Up to 20% of the time may be spent providing quoting & estimating support to the Plant Controller.Works with Inventory / Production Control team to ensure accuracy of inventory transactions and production data.            Much of the work may be project-based accounting.


    Analysis:

    Complete financial analysis to monitor costs and financial position in key areas such as volumes, margins, scrap, utilities, labor, inventory, etc.Analyze plant income statement and inventory transactions to identify issues, report on performance and drive continuous improvement.


    Accounting:

    Daily, weekly, and month-end activities as required to ensure a complete, accurate and timely close process.Assists with timely invoicing on projects & provides a detailed job cost report using Visual ERP and Excel reports.Maintains general ledger and transaction processing.Maintains monthly and annual account reconciliations & audit schedules.Ensures relevant accounting guidelines and policies are properly and consistently appliedCoordinate with HR on payroll activity.Takes part in annual physical inventory process for tag entry and reconciliations


    Qualifications:

    Responsibilities:

    1. Responsible for making accurate picklists in accordance to the backlog and needs of the customers to load the trucks with.

    2. Must schedule trucks according to the needs of the customers.

    3. Responsible for scheduling employees hours and training according to customer needs or shipping needs.

    4. Responsible for accurate labeling for bundles that are shipping.

    5. Must plan according to finished or unfinished product as to when and what to ship daily or in the future.

    6. Must keep weights up to date on picklists.

    7. Makes packlists for finished shipments

    8. Sends freight charges to invoicing and sales

    9. Reduce freight costs through competitive biding between carriers.

    10. Responsible for 2nd shift employees including scheduling, evaluating, hiring, firing, and corrective actions.

    11. Counts parts and lets production know if something is needed or missing.

    12. Must strive to keep department clean and orderly

    13. Responsible for spreadsheets and truck lists for the brokers for weekly scheduling.

    14. Enforces standards set within the shipping procedures guidelines

    15. Responsible for shipping product to secondary operations and bringing them back when finished.


    Qualifications:

    1. Needs to be able to perform simple math (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

    2. Needs to have basic computer skills preferably in visual manufacturing

    3. Good verbal and written communications

    4. Strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement

    5. Flexible and responsive with strong teamwork orientation
