Required Qualifications

Education: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experienceSchedule: Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned customer premises, company facilities and other locations as necessary.Language: Fluent in English. Technical skills: Proficiency in using computers and software applications. Competent in using hand tools.Abilities: Effective communication, professionalism, time management, organization, critical thinking, responsibility and reliability. Valid Driver’s license with safe driving record within company standards required.Physical: Walk over various terrains and weather conditions while carrying tools and equipment. Safely use weight-bearing equipment (up to 345 lbs) and lift up to 75 lbs. Climb ladders up to 32 feet and work in confined spaces and at heights. Operate and navigate a company vehicle in changing environments. Work with small components and wires. Work outdoors for extended periods in any season and inclement weather.

As a Construction Technician, you will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining our Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) plant under moderate supervision. You will also be performing complex installations of cable in underground and/or overhead environments using most recent company specifications and industry standards. Your work will fuel the growth engine of Charter’s expanding network.

While installing equipment to HFC equipment, you will be working with other construction technicians, in-house technicians, and third party technicians in the performance of their duties. You will become a valuable member of the team through your hard work and dedication.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

Experience: Construction work experience of two or more years preferredEducation:High School Diploma or equivalent work experienceValid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company required standardsIndustry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E preferred)Technical Skills:Able to operate machinery used for underground/overhead cable installationAble to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twistingAble to use personal computer or test equipment associated with position (e.g. signal level meters, ohm meters, etc.)Able to use handheld communication devices and applicationsKnowledge of traditional fiber architectures, Fiber Plant maintenance, basic mathematics and electronics, National Electrical Code and National Safety CodeAbilities:Able to read, write and speak the English languageAble to use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdriversAble to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as gaffs, safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of that equipmentAble to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devicesAble to use weight-bearing equipmentAble to carry, climb, and operate extension ladders (approx. 32 ft high and 90 pounds)Able to climb poles using gaffs, hooks and climbing belt as neededAble to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wiresAble to read general system layouts from blueprintsAble to work in all types of terrain in all weather conditions while carrying equipmentAble to perform job from high places (i.e. poles and roofs)Able to work while standing 50-70% of the timeAblet to work with small components and wires to make cable connectionsAbility to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies Ability to dig in all types of soilAbility to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible mannerAble to work independently Skills: Can prioritize and organize effectively, detail-oriented, strong communication skillsSchedule: Hours will be determined as business needs dictate
