The Medical Laboratory Technician ensures quality and accuracy of all processes involved in obtaining diagnostic results. Education and Training Required: Graduate from an accredited two (2) year technical school program or armed services associate degree from an accredited vocational/technical school or junior college (including internship). Must have passed ASCP, AMT, NCA, ISCLT or AAB certification exam or be eligible or HEW certified as an MLT. BLS certified. Experience : Previous experience working with the public helpful; lab experience including phlebotomy helpful, but not required. Physical Requirements: Frequently stand and walk. Frequently lift/Cary up to 25 pounds while carrying a drawing tray or handling lab supplies. Occasionally push and pull with up to 25 pounds of force for transporting patients in wheelchairs and moving equipment. Frequently uses sense of touch to determine adequacy of site for venipuncture.
