At Prosper-Tech Machine & Tool, Setup CNC Machinists play a critical role in preparing and running precision machining jobs efficiently and consistently. This position supports high-mix, small-batch production where setup quality, process control, and attention to detail directly impact delivery and performance.
The Work You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes Pick up work offsets and tool offsets Build cutting tool assemblies from setup sheets Set up repeat jobs and perform first-piece inspections Make tool changes and machine adjustments as needed Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring tools Troubleshoot machining issues and maintain part quality Follow work instructions and contribute to process improvements Deburr and clean finished parts as necessary Work within ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality systemsHigher-level machinists may also support programming, process development, and tool life optimization.

What We're Looking ForRequired:
4-6+ years of CNC machining/setup experience preferred Experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes Ability to independently set up repeat jobs Experience performing first-piece inspections Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances/GD&T Comfortable making tool and work offsets Strong understanding of tooling and setup processes Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-focusedPreferred (Not Required):
Experience with Haas, Brother, or Fanuc-controlled machines Multi-axis machining exposure Programming experience (3-axis mill or 2D lathe) Aerospace or medical machining background Experience improving setup documentation or tooling strategies

Entry to 6+ years of CNC machining experience (level-based) Experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes Ability to read blueprints and understand basic tolerances Familiarity with hand inspection tools (mics, calipers, gauges) Ability to make offsets and run jobs with minimal supervision Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Reliable, safety-minded, and team-orientedPreferred (Not Required):
Experience with Fanuc controls Experience with Haas or Brother machines Setup experience (tooling, offsets, first-piece inspection) Programming exposure (higher levels) Aerospace or medical machining experience
