Northramp is seeking a Cloud Specialist (SME) to join the team supporting the client's Cloud BPA Bridge program — a mission-critical effort to consolidate, modernize, and operate the client's enterprise cloud services across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments under FedRAMP High authorization.
You will serve as the senior technical authority for cloud computing initiatives supporting the client — providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and best practices across AWS, Azure, and GCP. The role shapes cloud strategy, mentors technical teams, and ensures the cloud infrastructure supports the client's mission objectives effectively and securely.
This role is part of Northramp's integrated delivery model, where engineers and advisors work as one team to bring sound judgment, disciplined execution, and deep federal experience to high-stakes modernization programs.
Location & Work Arrangement

The Ideal Candidate
You bring deep, multi-cloud architecture experience and have led at the senior-technical-leader level on enterprise programs. You have shipped Infrastructure as Code at scale, run technical engagements with CSPs, and operated under FedRAMP High and DHS security standards. You are equally comfortable mentoring engineers and influencing CSP product decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the go-to expert for cloud initiatives across the client, offering strategic insight and technical guidance on complex architectures and deployments across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Develop and refine Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using Terraform, Ansible, and Python, ensuring scalable, reliable, and efficient management of cloud resources. Lead technical discussions with Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to influence product roadmaps, resolve high-level issues, and establish best practices for cloud adoption. Provide expert-level support in the design and optimization of cloud infrastructure for scalability, performance, and security. Lead the creation and management of custom OS and application images aligned with organizational standards. Drive automation of system and application configurations to streamline deployment and improve operational efficiency. Required Qualifications
10+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in cloud computing across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including architecture, security, and compliance. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Management, or a related technical field. Significant professional experience and achievements may be considered in lieu of a formal degree. Demonstrated expertise across cloud computing environments, with deep knowledge of cloud architecture, security, and compliance frameworks on AWS, Azure, and GCP. Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of cloud-based enterprise architectures supporting the client's IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS requirements, including FedRAMP High-authorized Commercial Cloud Brokers (CCBs). Develop and enhance the client’s Cloud Architecture Repositories and technical insertion processes; align with enterprise target architectures per SOO Section 4.2.1. Create and promote cloud architecture frameworks and reference models that reduce IT complexity through reuse of existing solutions. Design architectures incorporating Virtual Compute Services (VCS), Scaling Automation Services (SAS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless compute, and managed databases (relational, NoSQL, Data Warehouse). Architect Private Virtual Cloud Networks (PVCNs), Virtual Load Balancing (VLB), Direct Connection Services (DCS), and hybrid connectivity including DHS TIC 3.0 compliance and the the client hub-and-spoke model. Provide architectural guidance for KMS/HSMs, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Content Delivery Services (CDS). Align Enterprise Architecture with the client’s Strategic SELC processes and IT investment decision-making; conduct gap analysis of existing Disaster and Cloud architectures. Practical experience configuring and managing managed relational databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL), NoSQL, and cloud-native data warehouse services. Familiarity with cloud storage — block, object/bucket, archival/glacial, elastic file systems. Proficiency with DNS management, IP address planning (IPv4/IPv6), and hybrid network connectivity. Hands-on experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools, including integration with SIEM platforms such as Splunk. Knowledge of IAM and KMS/HSM within cloud environments. Understanding of FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and STIG compliance for cloud network and database components. Experience using cloud consoles, CLIs, and APIs for configuration and troubleshooting. Good analytical and troubleshooting skills; able to diagnose network and database performance issues and implement corrective actions. Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation. U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS suitability / Public Trust clearance.Desired Qualifications
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent GCP certification. CompTIA Network+ or Security+ (required at time of hire).
