    We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Adoption Attorney to join our Houston legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Texas family law, with specific experience handling adoption matters, including private, agency, stepparent, foster care, and international adoptions. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to helping families navigate the adoption process with care and efficiency.

    The Law Office of Bryan Fagan is a firm that excels in family, estate planning & probate, and criminal law matters. We currently have (11) offices in Texas: (2) offices in Houston (Corporate and River Oaks), and (1) office in Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, The Woodlands, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Humble, and will continue to have paralegals in these offices.
    Key ResponsibilitiesYour role in our mission includes the following responsibilities:

    Represent clients in all aspects of adoption cases, including initial consultations, filings, hearings, and finalization. Draft and review adoption petitions, agreements, and related legal documents.Advise clients on Texas adoption laws and regulations, ensuring compliance throughout the process.Coordinate with adoption agencies, social workers, and state agencies as necessary.Advocate for clients in court proceedings and negotiations.Manage a caseload efficiently while maintaining high professional and ethical standardsProvide empathetic and client-centered service to individuals and families.Collaborate with the firm’s legal team and support staff to deliver exceptional results.
    Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseWhat you will bring to the role:Two or more years of practicing adoption law in Texas. Five years of experience is highly preferred.Have a valid Texas bar license for a minimum of 2 years.Strong understanding of Texas Family Code and adoption procedures.Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.A passion for conducting hearings and being in the courtroom, and handling Mediations and Consults.High level of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.Knowledge of TxDoc and Clio OR similar drafting/client management software, MS Office or Google Suite proficiency.Drafting of correspondence, pleadings, and discovery.

This position ensures operational excellence by supervising the work performance, attendance, and professional development of Paralegal Leads, Paralegals, and Legal Assistants. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional capable of balancing high-level team management with the technical execution of senior-level paralegal responsibilities. This is a full-time, office-based position. Occasional flexibility is required for after-hours work or emergency case assignments.
    What you will bring to the role:Manage and support a large team of paralegals and legal assistants across various practice areas, including family law, estate planning, probate, and civil litigation.Supervise daily workflows, case assignments, and document production to ensure quality and timely legal support.Directly oversee Paralegal Leads, providing individualized coaching and performance management.Lead daily and weekly meetings to deliver department updates, policy reminders, and strategic goals.Participate in the onboarding process for new legal support staff.Operations, Attendance & TimekeepingApprove and track all scheduling changes, including work-from-home requests, Paid Time Off (PTO), and attendance.Manage timecards and ensure payroll readiness for all legal support staff on a biweekly basis.Identify and implement process improvements and technology solutions to enhance team efficiency.Serve as the primary escalation point for case-specific operational concerns or interdepartmental workflow issues.Maintain and manage a Senior Attorney caseload in addition to management duties.Draft and prepare complex legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, motions, and orders.Organize and manage case files from initial intake through final resolution.Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including exhibit organization, trial binders, and witness coordination.Conduct legal research and provide summaries of findings to the legal team.Review and approve check requests and manage credit card payments for legal expenses such as mediations and subpoenas.Implement and uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and firm compliance protocols.

    Key ResponsibilitiesExperience: Minimum of 7 years of paralegal experience in Texas.Leadership: Minimum of 5 years in a management or leadership role supervising legal staff.Education: Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or a Certificate in Paralegal Studies is required; a Juris Doctor (JD) is considered a plus.  Board certification is a strong plus, not required.Legal Proficiency: Experience in family law required, estate planning, additional experience with  probate, or civil litigation law is a strong plus.Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and case management software (Clio preferred).Competencies: Strong conflict resolution skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead high-impact family law cases from intake to final decree with the full support of our marketing and administrative engine.Lead the Strategy: Drive contested divorces, complex SAPCR cases, and protective orders.Command the Courtroom: Represent clients in Harris County and surrounding courts with confidence and clarity.Litigate with Excellence: Conduct depositions, mediations, and First-Chair trials using your deep knowledge of the Texas Family Code.Provide Counsel: Help clients navigate their toughest chapters with results-driven, compassionate representation.
    What We’re Looking For A "battle-tested" advocate who is ready to step into a powerhouse platform.The Credentials: A valid Texas bar license for a minimum of 2 years.The Experience: At least 2 years of dedicated Texas Family Law litigation.The Skillset: A fearless presence in the courtroom and the ability to manage a high-impact docket under pressure. You are a highly organized advocate experienced in family law hearings, and estate / guardianship proceedings. From initial consults to the precision drafting of pleadings and discovery, you bring energy and discipline to every stage of the litigation process.The Tech: Proficient in Clio, TxDoc, Google Suite, and modern e-filing systems.
