As a mobile field technician with Custom Truck One Source (CTOS), you’ll start from home, roll out in a fully equipped service truck, and tackle complex troubleshooting across the Gulf Coast. CTOS is a 30+ year industry leader with 40+ locations, 2,500+ employees, and a 10,000+ unit fleet serving utility, telecom, rail, and construction customers.

    Day in the life Hit the road across Louisiana, Mississippi, East Texas, and Western Alabama to diagnose and repair specialized utility equipment at customer sites.Work hands-on with bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, and service trucks—solving mechanical, electrical, diesel, and hydraulic issues.Perform inspections (including DOT) and dielectric testing on rental, customer, and company units.Use your company-issued laptop and credit card to manage work orders, parts, and travel logistics.Expect frequent overnight travel (50%–80%+) with significant assignments along the Gulf Coast in oil, gas, and utility areas. What you’ll handle End-to-end troubleshooting, parts replacement, and field repairs on aerial, construction, and light/heavy-duty truck systems.Preventive maintenance, safety checks, and compliance documentation.Customer communication and coordination with the CTOS team to ensure uptime.     As a Field Service Mechanic, you’ll be the go-to expert diagnosing and repairing specialized utility trucks and equipment in the field, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, service trucks, and other utility and construction equipment.

    Responsibilities

    It’s Monday morning in the Cabot shop. You pick up a work order, load your service truck, and head out to a customer site where a bucket truck needs diagnostics. By mid-morning, you’ve traced a hydraulic issue, sourced parts, and documented your findings on the repair order. After lunch back at the shop, you perform PM service on a digger derrick, knock out an electrical diagnosis on a high rail unit, and close the day reviewing labor and parts so costs are recorded accurately.

    Where you’ll make an impact Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain chassis and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail units, and other utility equipment in the field and in the shop.Perform PMs and corrective repairs on truck-mounted utility gear: boom and bucket trucks, diggers, dump, service, forestry units, and aerial cranes.Work across diesel, hydraulics, electrical systems, and chassis—using diagnostics to find root causes quickly.Prepare, document, and submit accurate records of parts, service, and labor; route repair orders to your supervisor for approval.Champion safety: follow best practices, and attend CTOS monthly safety meetings.Tackle other duties as assigned to keep our utility fleet mission-ready.     Personal mechanic tools preferred, especially for heavy equipment or utility truck repair
