Ace Wire Spring & Form Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced, hands-on Supervisor to oversee our Secondary Wire Forming, Benchwork, and Machine Shop operations. This is a highly technical role ideal for a skilled machinist with strong mechanical aptitude, proven leadership ability, and a deep understanding of tooling, fixtures, and precision manufacturing processes. The Supervisor will lead by example-training team members, developing their technical skills, and ensuring all equipment is set up, operated, and maintained to Ace's standards of quality and safety. This role also works closely with Engineering, Coiling, Grinding, and EN Department leadership to coordinate workflows and maintain efficient, accurate production across the facility. Overview This position serves as the primary technical resource and working leader for the Secondary, Benchwork, and Machine Shop teams. The Supervisor will perform complex setups, troubleshoot manual and CNC machinery, develop tooling solutions, and guide technicians in producing high-quality springs and wire-formed components. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with Engineering to review upcoming workloads, clarify specifications, estimate labor requirements, and support accurate quoting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Duties & Responsibilities Supervise daily operations within Secondary Wire Forming, Benchwork, and Machine Shop departments Perform complex setups, teardowns, and adjustments on manual and CNC machinery Troubleshoot mechanical, tooling, and fixture-related issues to maintain production flow Train and mentor team members in machining, benchwork, and wire forming techniques Ensure safe and proper use of all tools, equipment, jigs, fixtures, and measuring instruments Review production schedules and allocate labor resources efficiently Work closely with Engineering to clarify specifications, review prints, and plan upcoming workloads Support accurate quoting by estimating machining time, setup requirements, and tooling needs Collaborate with department supervisors to align priorities and maintain smooth workflow across the facility Inspect work for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to ISO 9001:2015 requirements Lead continuous improvement efforts for tooling, setup efficiency, and equipment reliability Recommend repairs, preventive maintenance, and tooling upgrades as needed Maintain documentation, production records, and job travelers to support traceability and quality standards Serve as the technical point person for machining challenges, secondary operations, and forming processes Technical Skills & Experience Required Strong background in machining, including mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, saws, and CNC equipment Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and complex part drawings Mechanical aptitude with expertise in troubleshooting machines and tooling issues Experience with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators Familiarity with fixture design, jig setup, and workpiece holding methods Knowledge of wire forming processes, benchwork finishing, and secondary operations is highly preferred Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and inspection requirements Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a diverse technical team Capability to balance hands-on work with supervisory responsibilities Leadership Expectations Lead by example in professionalism, quality, safety, and work ethic Provide on-the-job training and coaching to elevate team skill levels Communicate clearly across shifts, departments, and leadership teams Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence Hold team members accountable to production standards and company policies Support cross-training to improve workforce flexibility and production capacity Cross-Department Collaboration This supervisor will work closely with: Engineering Department (daily communication on workloads, quoting, specs) Coiling Department (coordination of shared tooling and timing) Grinding Department (alignment of workflow and downstream operations) EN Department (support for wire forming and advanced setups) Quality Control (inspection requirements, corrective actions, documentation) Ideal Candidate Profile Experienced machinist or toolmaker with supervisory experience Hands-on leader who prefers working on the floor rather than behind a desk Strong problem-solver able to diagnose mechanical and tooling issues quickly Comfortable making decisions under pressure and prioritizing multiple tasks Capable of advancing the technical capability of the team through training and mentoring Hiring Process All new hires are processed through a temp agency during their first 500 work hours. As part of this process, a drug test and background check are required. This arrangement does not affect take-home pay-all fees are fully covered by Ace Wire Spring & Form Co., Inc. After completing the 500-hour period, candidates may be evaluated for full-time hire or released based on performance and fit.
